okay, into the friendrewind stuff. short, because it speaks for itself i think.
the other night, my friend selkie sent me over a post. (it's from napo, yes, but the evidence and screenshots are undeniable so stick with me here.)
point-blank: friendrewind uses ai, is very likely vibe-coded, and the creator condones (or at the very least turns a blind eye to, which he obviously shouldn't) racism.
and honestly, this is just so... frustrating. how is it so hard for people to create a decent myspace recreation? spacehey was good, but the moderation's been in the dumps for ages now. friendrewind seemed okay, but then this popped up. and people are excited about myspace coming back, but as it turns out, they're just remaking it to scrape data off of users and sell it.
not sure about napo, it always felt cynical and edgy to me, but that's that. friendproject is a ghost town. but of course, those don't compare to what's going on above. it's just... why is it so hard? to find a place that feels right?
and i'm really sorry, you guys. i should've looked deeper into the site before i started yapping about it here. i should've stuck with my gut when i said that i wanted to stay on my blog only, or at least not on those sites. i'm really, really sorry. i'll be more thorough when i look at sites like these again, i promise.

i just read through the post, thank you for sharing it here. it sucks to see, especially bc i've been hearing about this ai discussion for weeks. i know a lot of web devs use ai in their projects, and i understand it can be a helpful *tool*. i know practically running a site on your own is no easy feat, and i'm no professional web dev, but for a site attempting to be the modern-day myspace, ai is not necessary. you don't have to apologize though, eugene. it's not your fault.
of course. and yeah, there's a lot of sites before this one that could pull of a myspace reinvention before generative ai was even thought of, so there's no excuse...
