customer from beyond

i thought up of this q when i visited a bookstore today, and i had to get it down immediately!!!

if you could operate a food truck that serves customers from across the entire galaxy, as a representation of earth's food, what would you serve?

whirlwind romance

all my final grades have finally come out. they're all good! i'm so happy~ i was worried my final exams n projects were a total bust, but i studied n worked hard enough after all~ to celebrate, i rewatched the lotr trilogy and played lots of video games today. also did some coding and image editing!

i have a question. perhaps it's more suitable for the namesake of today's sotd, but... what sort of love stories are your favorite?

i think... my favorite love stories have always been ones with lots of domestic fluff. or fluff in general. i like to keep things light and heartwarming, and find the sweetness in the mundane. i particularly love scenarios that involve food and love letters or gifts. fluff used to be what i used to write a lot back in middle school-- i cleaned my room recently, and found notebooks where i'd scribble down scenario ideas. confessions in a ferris wheel, planning for a mutual friend's party, one making soup when the other's sick. maybe i should write them out now...

but i also do love grand soulmate / true love tales on occasion! not ones that are unhealthy or end in tragedy, of course, but ones that ultimately do test the limits of love. i find the dedication to one another inspiring. i usually like the this best in fantasy settings. balancing the transformation / end of the world, yourself, and the one you hold dear. the two of you versus the world, no matter how far apart you are. it's reassuring-- sometimes i can fall into despair over the possibility of romantic love, but the fact that so many (including myself) can imagine such dedication, means it's possible, right? ah well.

i'm usually not one to like defining stories by their tropes, but i'm a fan of hurt / comfort (which was probably apparent from the fluff stuff) and friends-to-lovers. x fell first and y fell harder is also fun. what about you guys?

lurking in your heart

i don't really say that i have a favorite author anymore, but my favorite author for most of middle and high school was lemony snicket.

of course, i was introduced to his work through a series of unfortunate events. but honestly, i think i was more engrossed by his later series: all the wrong questions. it's snicket's take on the noir genre, for early teen readers.

cotton candy skies

another library visit, i think this will be my last for a while?

and for context, this is... the fourth library i know? (first being home, second being bayside town, third being spiral staircase, fourth being this one by my school. i feel like me saying "library" all the time is getting confusing for you guys, i'm sorry ã… ã… )

i didn't stay long, picked up a few cds and cookbooks (of course). this is the library that has the whole floor devoted to music and art, though there weren't a whole bunch of artists that i was into currently available.

but! i did find..................... shinee. married to the music! and red velvet (tho i don't listen to them, i thought it was cool)! i'm glad to see kpop cds coming more and more to libraries around the area; they're always so expensive (because of the add-ons, i know) but i think people should be able to experience the joy of listening to kpop cds.................. (n then i picked up a joy division cd and an old bruno mars one (doo-wops n hooligans is really nostalgic ok..........))

i wonder. if you collect physical albums, what draws you to them? do you like to collect the fan goodies, or do you just want the disc? because nowadays i see some add cd players, keychains, headphones, toys, etc etc. it's sort of interesting, but i don't really want it myself. i only want the disc (when i'm sure i love the album) and hope for a card of my bias. if i want specific sorts of merch, i try to look online for fellow fans that are doing diy, or get the resources myself.

that being said. i wonder what'll be in exo's new album. they don't really add a whole bunch of new things alongside the usual, but who knows what's up their sleeve this time. it's been a while. (speaking of exo, their tracklist was revealed! i'm particularly interested in moonlight shadows...)

... on the way back, the sunset was beautiful. coral clouds, the sky going from a pastel blue down to a blazing orange. soft lavender and rose pink. we had to pass through the bayside town in order to get home, so we drove along the beach, and i was able to step out and take some photos. i also took a video as we drove across the bridge later on. the cure cd i picked up was playing, and for a moment, everything felt like a dream.

i wish i could just stare at the sunset forever. but if i could, it wouldn't mean as much, right?

my pudding self

if your brain could be made of anything except what it is right now (which is mostly fat and water in this world), what would you want it to be made of?

last night. instead of focusing on my homeworks, i got sucked into writing my story. for four hours straight.

vampire party scene

today i'd like to ramble about something i have some pretty intimate knowledge of: emo teen vampire books.

needle and thread

did an unexpected amount of online socializing today. i browsed through the forums on spacehey and picked out some topics to comment on, and did a bunch of that. and honestly, i'm thinking of making a couple of my own soon. (so, note to self: write a post on the chronicles of vladimir tod, current reading woes, at the drive-in, etc.....)

i binded a couple of my first books the other night. just a simple think of cardstock, printer paper, and lined paper. used a pin to poke the holes and then sewed it with some of my mom's thread. honestly, i was a little worried about starting because a lot of videos bring up all these specialized supplies and expensive tools and i was like, "do i really need that.........?"

the answer, at least right now: no. thank cod!

but now what am i gonna do with them..................

my first thought was to make at the drive-in related little books, about how i view the songs and my ideas for a music video. maybe i'll try that tonight. but i also sorta wanna go back to watercolor painting. i have this world formulating in my head, and i want to explore it a little more.

do about anything

ok, well. the book i picked up that i said was bad? i, uh, finished it in a day. and by a day, i mean today. just a few minutes ago.

the quietness

the weather was lovely today, but i decided to stay in instead. looked for secondhand kat-tun stuff on the interwebs (why is everything so expensive!!!!!), read books, and ate lots of fresh fruits. it was a nice day of rest for my brain, though admittedly, the fog within has returned.

i'm not too upset about it, though. this fog is different-- there's a strange, whimsical and comforting peace that comes with it. reminiscent of falling asleep in childhood.

yet, i'm still awake. moving on.

on target

nothing much happened today, but i did finish my spacehey layout for april. it looks so cute and cool, i can't wait to show it off~ i don't think it's very mobile friendly, though. i would run it through my layout tester, but idk. i sort of want it to be a total surprise?

i was at the library for a time (which is when i put together the final details for the layout), but i was actually meaning to go through a new korean textbook i got from it. i had attempted learning korean previously, so there are some very vague remnants of what i learned. thankfully i'm familiar with a good chunk of it, though some of the vocabulary and sentences given are different than what i got in my first textbook. isn't that interesting~?

i also got some baking books! can't wait to look through them. to be honest, the only reason i really like looking at them is all the pretty pictures. (i don't borrow a lot of older cookbooks for this reason-- there are no pics!!!!) so cookbooks always pile up the home, admittedly. and i never really save any recipes, though honestly i should at least try some of them.

it's late, but i still have some chem work to do too. it seems like i really can't drop it, so i'm hoping to at least get a passing grade by the end of the year. i'm not taking the exam (and honestly i wouldn't pass it in the first place).

colder with time

sorry, i don't really have much to share. i had a cozy day today~ made the most amazing choco chip waffles, and sewed two more mini squishy bunnies! also started rereading a christmas carol, which i've always been fond of doing for the longest time.

sleep well!
