i put the goodbye layout onto my profile. i think it looks pretty good. i think it's a good note to end on something slightly cyber and clean-- it was my trademark for a while, so it feels right. the song on it is sugarless girl by capsule! shoutout to nara for the recommendation~

elsewhere on the web, i updated my old neocities site's layout. you can check it out here-- what do you think? i don't do much there aside from test out code, so maybe it'll just end up as another test, but i think it looks good right now. i took the code from my pollen and salt layout that i used to have on friendrewind. i said this before, but i've been wanting to convert some of my old anyspace layouts into layouts for static sites or pages. i think a lot of them would work well for an about page, and it would keep jinpudding afloat for a while, at least.

other than that, i don't have much to do today. just some reading, and some applications. but i also want to get back to my bookbinding project... i had a plan, before summer break ended, to make a coptic-stitch-bound notebook with board covers. if / when i complete it, i'll show you guys a pic!

ah, and. this monday is the first meeting of the hallyu wave class i signed up for! i'm excited to see what'll happen. i'll tell you guys all the deets if we get anything good tomorrow~ ;3

okay, into the friendrewind stuff. short, because it speaks for itself i think.

the other night, my friend selkie sent me over a post. (it's from napo, yes, but the evidence and screenshots are undeniable so stick with me here.) 

point-blank: friendrewind uses ai, is very likely vibe-coded, and the creator condones (or at the very least turns a blind eye to, which he obviously shouldn't) racism.

and honestly, this is just so... frustrating. how is it so hard for people to create a decent myspace recreation? spacehey was good, but the moderation's been in the dumps for ages now. friendrewind seemed okay, but then this popped up. and people are excited about myspace coming back, but as it turns out, they're just remaking it to scrape data off of users and sell it.

not sure about napo, it always felt cynical and edgy to me, but that's that. friendproject is a ghost town. but of course, those don't compare to what's going on above. it's just... why is it so hard? to find a place that feels right?

and i'm really sorry, you guys. i should've looked deeper into the site before i started yapping about it here. i should've stuck with my gut when i said that i wanted to stay on my blog only, or at least not on those sites. i'm really, really sorry. i'll be more thorough when i look at sites like these again, i promise.

had a pretty good day today.

my mom wanted to check out a filipino festival that was going on today, so we went out to the big metropolitan to see it. and, uh... it wasn't that great? the food was cold and salty, and like. i know this isn't restricted to our community, but i'm getting so tired of seeing bulk dropshipped items at cultural festivals. we can do better than this and it makes me so upset. why are you seeing this event and / or your community as a way to make a quick buck using items that aren't even yours??? i don't see how this is good for us.

but idk, that's just my mind.

after that, we went to japantown. i needed to get some pictures for a video project in my korean class (to clear up any confusion, i talked about going to japantown in a writing homework which then had to be incorporated into a long script), which i was luckily able to get! and, as extra luck seemed to be on my side, i got a new bag for school. there was a little anime market going on in one of the malls, so i was able to get myself a bag from one of the artists. it's so cute, it's all purple n indigo with stars, and a bunny on the moon in the center... i also got some squares of fabric from the traditional goods store; you could get 5 for $2! and a bigger rectangle for $2! what a deal~ i plan to use it in a little shirt / sweatshirt / hoodie diy idea i have in mind.

and then after that, i got ice cream n we went home. i took a nap, ate dinner, reviewed my classmates' drafts for the writing class, chatted with my friend for a bit (hi selkie! :)), and here i am now~

i have lots of speaking projects to do this week. wish me luck... (also i'll get started on the next honeydrop island episode soon, trust!)

enjoying fairy tales as of late. i watched another cinderella story with my mom, and am currently watching once upon a time. i vaguely remember being really interested in it when i saw previews back when it first started, but i was too young to remember anything. and tomorrow, i'm planning to watch jack and the cuckoo clock heart. or a french beauty and the beast retelling!

sorry i've been gone for a while, again. we've got some big tests coming up in my korean class-- only two more weeks to go, already! two more weeks after that, and then it's back to school for eels...

how have you been?

we're in the middle of a heat wave right now, but it's not that bad. i've been staying inside most of the time, except to take walks outside at night n look at the stars. couldn't really see anything notable as of late, aside from the full moon. it was surrounded by clouds... so beautiful. 

i also turned in my very first writing draft for my writing class. and got feedback on it this weekend, and did some peer review! so fun. i was inspired by grouper's song heavy water / i'd rather be sleeping. in general i've been listening to a lot of grouper as of late, but another post on that is coming soon.

my mom and i watched a kdrama last night, 구가의 서, which is about a demigod searching for a way to become fully human. it stars lee seunggi and bae suzy. it can get really dark and depressing, but there's a lot of wisdom in it, and very sweet moments.

i went out this afternoon with my mom to walk around a little shopping center. checked out the bath & body works since my mom was interested in the soap sale, as well as sephora. they have a new tinted sunscreen from beauty of joseon that i was able to match! i've always been in between shades for like... ever. so to see an actual match was amazing.

after that we got dinner at a burger place n went home :p haven't done much sense, but i found some cool dividers on tumblr that i wanna use to make a layout, and i'm currently making gifs from some tohoshinki mvs... teehee.
