if we're keeping score

happy halloween~ 

today was a pretty standard day. i went to campus for a design meeting, and pretty much finished my magazine spread in indesign. can't wait to put the words in! it was really chill and pleasant. i also hung around the computer lab for some time to get some web team things done, but hit a lot of roadblocks and had to stop... hopefully we can get it figured out, because it's really important.

after than i took the train back home and walked around another town's neighborhood that always decorates really well for halloween. i wore the same shark hat...thing... i did last year (and the year before), which was nice. i always seem to forget how heavy it is. i took a few photos, got a few candies. there were a lot more smoke machines than last year, which made it really hard to see at times, but it's all in good fun, right? there were lots of skeletons and live music, and people selling food. compliments all around, as well.

the fun thing about that particular neighborhood is that it's really beautiful. it's by the water, so sometimes you'll reach the end of the road and see ripples in pitch-black nothingness, or the reflection of lights from across the way. there's the fancy orb streetlamps, and all the houses have really pretty doorways. they really lend themselves to a haunted house sort of aesthetic, so it's no wonder halloween is always such a treat there.

of course, it feels a little lonelier. it has for some time now. i always wanted to walk around with at least one of my friends in high school, but never got the chance to. i don't think i ever will, all things considered. regardless, i hope it stays a neighborhood tradition for a long time. it makes so many people happy, and it's a really lovely show of community in a time and place where such seems to be lacking. (tbh, if i'm ever able to have my own place in an area that has trick-or-treaters, i think i'd want to be handing out candies, ehehe! i'd hand out baked goods, but idk if i'd really have the funds or energy for that. or maybe pokémon cards, depending on allergies or restrictions...)

in other news, my first ever photoshop design is finished. what do you think? tbh i'm not... super proud of it. i feel as if i could do better in canva, but i wanted to get used to the structure and the editing. i do like the array of filters though, and it's easy to crop things. but, uh, yeah. first edit.
