today was okay, nothing super interesting.

had classes, then helped my club table for an event that's coming up on saturday: a halloween band night. i'm sort of interested, but i think i'd be terrified. i never really have much fun at parties, remember? and in regards to halloween, my mom saw that another kpop store that recently opened up near us is hosting a halloween event on the same day, a little costume contest. 

agh! i still don't know what i wanna be...

ah. what else has been on my mind...?

oh! i went down a sorta interesting rabbit hold recently: pdas. devices! personal digital assistants. the 90s / early 2000s precursors to smartphones. a lot of the time, they used buttons, but some later ones also used styluses and even touchscreens. it doesn't really have the same... creative? functions as a phone might have, but i still find them totally cool.

usually, they were used for organization, computing, and notetaking. some had gps, and most could connect and receive information through usb connection. later in their popular lifetime, they could play audio and connect to the internet and cellular.

what i want to put into context is its popularity, compared to flip phones? i think they're def not as popular, seeming that they're not in the common memory anymore. flip phones are. and then we had smartphones, and we all know how that played out.

i think it's a shame, really. there seems to be some potential in them. maybe the technology just wasn't up to the ambition of the device. especially considering they seem to be a very... academic? device. i recall reading on the wikipedia page that a college gave them to their students, for e-textbooks. so, this was also within the rise of e-books.

what an in-between. a middle child. yeah, it really is a shame when it's put that way... now i feel pity...

in other news. happy one year anniversary to the 3 months i became obsessed with for the best by gregory and the hawk, and played it approximately 20 times every day. believe it or not, i loved it. it's a good song to be obsessed over.
