whirlwind romance

all my final grades have finally come out. they're all good! i'm so happy~ i was worried my final exams n projects were a total bust, but i studied n worked hard enough after all~ to celebrate, i rewatched the lotr trilogy and played lots of video games today. also did some coding and image editing!

i have a question. perhaps it's more suitable for the namesake of today's sotd, but... what sort of love stories are your favorite?

i think... my favorite love stories have always been ones with lots of domestic fluff. or fluff in general. i like to keep things light and heartwarming, and find the sweetness in the mundane. i particularly love scenarios that involve food and love letters or gifts. fluff used to be what i used to write a lot back in middle school-- i cleaned my room recently, and found notebooks where i'd scribble down scenario ideas. confessions in a ferris wheel, planning for a mutual friend's party, one making soup when the other's sick. maybe i should write them out now...

but i also do love grand soulmate / true love tales on occasion! not ones that are unhealthy or end in tragedy, of course, but ones that ultimately do test the limits of love. i find the dedication to one another inspiring. i usually like the this best in fantasy settings. balancing the transformation / end of the world, yourself, and the one you hold dear. the two of you versus the world, no matter how far apart you are. it's reassuring-- sometimes i can fall into despair over the possibility of romantic love, but the fact that so many (including myself) can imagine such dedication, means it's possible, right? ah well.

i'm usually not one to like defining stories by their tropes, but i'm a fan of hurt / comfort (which was probably apparent from the fluff stuff) and friends-to-lovers. x fell first and y fell harder is also fun. what about you guys?

(the pic for the blog is so cute! i love the outfits, hehe :3)

i don't usually engage with romantic media, but it is always such a journey when i decide to. i think my favorite love story trope is friends to lovers, because it seems like the most natural one. it can be very wholesome and enjoyable! i also like enemies to lovers, especially when they kinda have that sarcastic dynamic with each other. (hopefully that makes sense.. o_o) it's always satisfying to see the sarcastic remarks turn into confessions of love~

hmm... when it comes to love stories, i'm definitely all over the place! domestic fluff is something i very much enjoy as well, i think it's so adorable~!! but i'm also a sucker for a tawdry mafia romance, or some good ole enemies to lovers!! i love the drama!! i also love a classic high school, first love story too~ that's probably why i love shoujo anime so much! ^^;;; you and i definitely have similar tastes, though~

HI NARA!!!!!!!!! lolz, romantic media is such a journey indeed. it always has to go off the rails, i feel. and yay for friends to lovers!!! i agree, it's v wholesome and grounded! i'm not super into enemies to lovers myself, but i do understand the appeal lolz. the way their connection morphs over time, and their realizations, are always interesting.

do you prefer enemies by personality differences, or outside circumstances? like do they just not get along, or is it a romeo and juliet thing...

WAAAAA HI ANTAMA!!!!! thank you so muchhhhh :))) yes, let's enjoy summer break to the fullest!!!

YESSSS DOMESTIC FLUFF IS THE CUTEST! and usually low-stakes, so that's fun also. seeing as both you and nara like enemies-to-lovers, maybe i should give it another try? maybe i just didn't read the right ones... first love is also so adorable!!! n shoujo romance is some of the best~ the art style always really lends itself to the wholesomeness, too. :3

i think i prefer personality differences, because "opposites attract" and whatnot! idkkkk, i just like seeing two completely different people end up together. they complement one other and have a special kind of love. i think it's beautiful~
