HAPPY JULY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!! we are officially (a little bit more than) halfway through the year.............. and the july tag has returned!!!
i had a really fun day today. i went to a newly-opened bakery for some pastries (got my mom an ube pastry and my sister a choco croissant), read lots of books, got a new piperoid and a new video game~ and!!! i just put together my first friendrewind layout for others to use! so happy. it looks so much cuter on spacehey's structure, but i'm sure that with time, i'll be able to make a friendrewind layout that's just as adorable. but anyway, it feels like i'm really getting back into the swing of things. and how wonderful, that it's during the summer~
idk, it feels like things are really looking up for me right now. i'm really happy, you guys. :) (watch, i'm going to be hit with 100000000 years bad luck right after posting this...)
anyway, i have a question.
there's a story idea / prompt i saw out there a long time ago, asking the viewer to imagine a world in which magic existed, but faded over time. all manner of magical / mythological beings existed on earth, but due to various circumstances, ceased to be or faded out over time. but certain subtle traits continue to live on in humans much later down the line-- someone with an amazing green thumb or almost hypnotic voice, for instance. (and this is, fun fact, partially in line with tolkien lore. he wrote middle earth as a precursor to our world, iirc. magic existed, long ago, but declined after the defeat of sauron and as humans sort of took over after that.)
so, my question is... what sort of magical being would you be descended from, and how do you think it would show up in who you are: someone in the 21st century, long after magic has disappeared? (oof, long sentence.)
i'm not sure what i would have been descended from. i want to say that i'm descended from some sort of aquatic being, but i can't swim. i just like to go to the bayside parks or beach, breath in salty air and travel by ferry sometimes. or a being related to forests, though i haven't been in forests as much as i've been by the water. though, i wonder if all the forest-y areas of my college's campus count? lolz.
i recently finished this book (i'll write a book review of it tomorrow, promise, i just wanna sit with it for a bit), in which the main character finds out she's a particular type of witch that can traverse through and open portals to different realms. i think that would be more likely for me, or something like it. it would explain my imagination being the way it is. or perhaps a being who could traverse timelines, since most of my ideas have been set in worlds that are like ours. that would be nice. someone who travels through different worlds and records them-- the traveling and recording are just a little different in the 21st century, i guess.

i'm glad to hear you had a great day!! i hope your mom and sister enjoyed the pastries. also, the friendrewind layout was superrr cute!! the header is absolutely adorable.
at first i wanted to pick mermaid, but i remembered i'm extremely afraid of oceans and big bodies of water so i would descend from a fairy instead! (a kind fairy tho!! not an evil one.) the main reason for this is because i've always wished to have the ability to fly, as it seems like it would be so freeing. and in myself, i think my fairy-like qualities are empathy, independence, wittiness, and occasional trickery.

as for the magical being question... i think i'd be descended from a fox spirit that could shapeshift and slip between stories~ maybe the 21st-century version of that is someone who daydreams a little too vividly and always has one foot in a different world, lol. recording different realms just sounds right. also, that book sounds incredible-- i'll be sure to read the review! >:3
i'd like for my wings to be translucent, with a light tint of pink. and i would want butterfly wings for sure!!
