on my mind

went to japantown today~!

my friend and i did the usual wandering around the malls, and a new store on the street that was completely comprised of cat-themed items. for lunch, she had salmon chirashi and i had chicken karaage! i also had a mini shopping spree. i got a phone charm, a big claw clip, sticker sheets, a new pencil, and a new book!!! it's someone to cook for by maiko seo. i was drawn in by the promise of food, but it's supposed to also explore found family and non-traditional family structures, with some self-discovery. i'm really excited.

i also wanted to get this book that had the most adorable sparkly cover (the vanishing cherry blossom bookstore by takuya asakura), but it cost more, and i already spent a lot of money... i think i saw it at one of my libraries, though, so i'll see if i can try to check it out. or maybe even online, since the libraries are connected to libby.

after that, we were unsure about where to go. but we ended up going further south to get some egg puff waffles and boba, since we'd been meaning to check it out for a long time. absolutely freezing, though, since we're closer to the coast. didn't really mind, though-- cold n windy weather is perfect for math rock. but, anyway. i got a pandan waffle, which was really good!!!! not too sweet, and had very strong pandan and coconut flavor. i love pandan~

so, yeah! fun day.

and you guys. this is sort of random, but... being surrounded by all these spaces for the pursuit of knowledge and self... i love intellect. i love reading, and writing, and learning. i love art, making art and consuming art. i love museums, i love libraries, i love history, i love a good documentary. i love learning about the cultures of the world. i love thinking and making connections and looking deeper into things. i love metaphor and reference, i love allegories. heck, even though i have my qualms with the field of philosophy and the way it is in this world, i love the idea of philosophy. everyone has their own view of existence, the mind, their self and its relation to the world. being able to connect with each other, and share who we are, and have our spaces reflect the multitudes we are... is it not beautiful?

i love the human mind.

i hate that others do not...

after thinking about it this way, i feel that this is why i want to be a librarian. to spread the pursuit of knowledge, and self, and artistry. there's a lot of meaning to be found in the subjectivity of our experiences, and how we differ in understanding them, which i feel has been hard to find at times nowadays. i feel that libraries, being free and open, are an important bastion of this... so, it only feels right, to give back in this way and continue what others have shown me. and of course, i specifically love words and literature... but now, after all this thought, i feel that to simply say that i like it more is not enough. why do i like it more? i don't know.

yayyyy!! i'm so glad to hear that you guys had fun and ate lots of yummy food. i hope you enjoy your new book, too! it sounds like a great read. also, some cold and windy weather would be so amazing rn.. (ᵕ • ᴗ •)

i love knowledge and learning, too!! with the way the world is now, it's a big relief to see educated people and those making efforts to pursue knowledge. you hear all this talk in the media about how the children can't read, teachers are quitting their jobs, and adults have no common sense, and it's so scary to imagine what the future will be like.

all that to say, i think a librarian is the perfect job for gaining and sharing knowledge with others. i wish you the best, eugeneee~!! ^_^

thank u!!! it's humid over here now tho... at least, where i am. the coast is probably still really cold. maybe i should go again... ( - -;)

yes!!! we have so many resources in this era, it's nice to see people enjoy them. especially because there's still so much to learn about this world, about ourselves, and making things better... i do agree that it's scary to imagine the future, though. so many kids and teachers being failed (seriously, how underpaid they are and having to face the increasing entitlement of some parents), and ai taking over...

thank you!!! i will need all the wishes ㅠㅠ
