constrictor

I SAW BÔA LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my first concert ever, and it was amazing!!! the venue was about as big as my hs concert hall, so while there were a good chunk of people, it still felt pretty intimate and fun. i was worried that i'd have to stand in the pit, but i got there early enough to get a seat instead. and one of my hs friends showed up, too! it's been a while since we've talked, so it was nice to see her again n catch up for a few seconds.

the opener was a band called dead sullivan, and they were pretty good. and nonchalant, to the point that it was sort of awkward at first, but it could be for literally any reason. i should've picked up a sticker from them after the show, but i was stuck in the middle of the leaving crowd. perhaps they'll pop up around here again someday.

AND THEN BÔA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where do i even start, omg. they had so much energy through the entire concert, and the chemistry between the members (and the members with the crowd) was electric. they love music, the crowd loves music, everyone's having a good time and dancing and singing along... AND JASMINE LOOKED AMAZING. and her voice was so perfect through the entire thing??? omg. like how. i'm in awe of her.

a couple of folks stopped by before the show started and passed around a little bag with paper hearts in different colors, since the song drinking was going to have everyone hold up their flashlights. so then the band would be able to see a rainbow of hearts, in their words. it was so sweet, and it was nice to be a part of something like that.

fool almost made my cry-- while not completely, i relate to those lyrics so much, so to actually hear them from jasmine and in the crowd felt like... a dream come true? i was being seen? i don't know, but i don't think i'll forget it.

ALSO DUVET!!!!!!!!!!!! duvet was the first song of the encore, so everyone was screaming the lyrics and super happy. which is sort of iconic, considering the lyrics, but it's such a unifying song. the simplicity and the familiarity makes it so powerful, and you could really feel it then. from the call and response section, to everyone harmonized during her long note towards the end, duvet was such a star. (all of the songs were stars, of course, but it's like. it was the north star, the guide to which so much was possible, the beginning of the snowball that lead to this concert. how crazy is that?)

cod, i loved it so much. i still can't believe it was real. i'm still listening through the setlist again and again, especially since i have some new songs to be super in love with. and as the cherry on top, i got a tour shirt :3

sotd: get there by bôa
