i recently looked back at my rock-inspired magical boys concept, looked at some boxed brownie mix, and was hit with a new idea.................

chocolate magical girls~! 

hear me out, okay? in this world, chocolate is one of the biggest comfort sweets right now. it's one of the top foods used to represent love, that people give to each other on valentine's day. it's a massively popular flavor as well. and there's so many different types, people go crazy with flavors and combinations all the time, just because they're good! so... what if we had a team of girls who loved chocolate and loved making chocolate, and got transformed into a magical team!!!

my main thought was that they'd be based on different types of chocolate, or ways that chocolate is molded, or different types of truffles...

for instance, milk chocolate would probably be our main character! sweet, sometimes overly so to the point that it becomes overbearing, but generally means well and is well-liked. i think she'd be a total chocolate geek, but not super well-versed in making it. perhaps she's one of those characters who can somehow set rice on fire. because of her sweetness, she's the first to respond to calls for help. she's also the most motivated to catch up to everyone and make good impressions. generally an attack-type.

i was thinking their abilities could be based on flavors / other foods that pair especially well with them. something akin to a recipe book, where they collect "flavor" abilities that can be used in future battles or events. raspberry / blackberry drupes could double as some sort of detonator or trap, strawberry seeds as darts, the cool taste of mint brings about strong winds. cayenne could be akin to fire powers, the acidity on citrus juice hits a max, vanilla can give invisibility.

and of course, this amplifies or works in tandem with the abilities being a choco magical girl already has! all they have to do is open their book (or whatever they use to access the combos), call out choco combo, strawberry dart! and boom. awesome surprise skill! >:0

anyway, back to the girls. we could have white chocolate as the shy or reserved character. white is generally a color for calm or quiet characters, after all. she might feel insecure about her abilities, or perhaps some people view her as vapid or cold, sort of a reflection of the whole "is white chocolate really chocolate?" debate, or how people call it tasteless. but there's also a depth to her, too, which becomes more apparent as she develops in the choco magical girl team! she might also be somewhat motherly, and generally the strategist type.

and, of course, dark chocolate! our passionate and strong character, perhaps classified as a tsundere. being dark chocolate, she could be serious and be somewhat stubborn. but she's completely sincere, and means every single thing she says, good and bad. and at the end of the day, she wants the best for her loved ones. i think she'd be the strongest in terms of physical strength, to match with how powerful the flavors and bitterness of dark chocolate can be. as time goes on, her warm / soft side might show more and holds the team together in their worst moments, to reflect how dark chocolate is often the most used in baking. generally, defense-type!

now, we need a big bad... hm! we could have a being from another world, who wants to rid this one of all sweet and delicious flavors. they steal all memory and example of these flavors into their world, leaving the original bland and tasteless. to combat this, the chocolate warriors spring into action! when something goes missing, they're on the case to find the ~ultimate~ specimen of it. ultimate strawberry, ultimate mint, etc...

of course, there's an underling of the big bad who tries to stop them. but they have an awesome fight and take it back!!! then, when they take the ultimate specimen back, it's entered into the recipe book of the chocolate that's most compatible with it, and they can use the flavor's abilities. if they pick up enough abilities, they could combine them and become truffles!

truffles are sort of like... forgive me for the comparison, but mega evolutions in pokémon x&y. if they call out multiple abilities at the same time that pair super well, then they can access a new form and new, even further upgraded abilities. it will definitely be helpful as their enemies get stronger, too. 

i dunno. those are just my ideas. what do you guys think? :3
