wasn't up to much today-- caught up on work, and completely updated jinpudding's css. also put together a little button for the cyclone webring for the webring widget. i have to put together a sitemap and link to that on all my pages, and then that should be it for now...
in other news. did you guys know that em values compound? i didn't... so, if you get both p and a to have a font-size of 0.8em, and put an a element in p, then a becomes 0.8 of 0.8em. i was having a hard time changing the sizes of all my links, until i realized. and i know people mostly use px, but from what i've experienced, px doesn't scale very well on all devices.
there's a lot to do this week. again. i'll be able to sign up for my next-semester classes tomorrow afternoon. and then there's projects n essays... and then next week is the last week of instruction, then there's dead week and finals... and then home free? well. i'm not 100% sure. i might take summer classes.
the title of today's post comes from the postal service song, the district sleeps alone tonight. i was planning to go to sleep early last night, but i went through some of my old video drafts and remembered how awesome the instrumental break was, so i ended up looping the song for an hour...
the interesting thing about the postal service's music to me is that i always get a monochromatic color palette when i listen to them, though it leans slightly warm. it's mid-morning on a cold, cloudy day. and you're awake in bed, lying and thinking about all the decisions you've made, because all of a sudden you have time to. and you realize just how much time has passed, and how you have and haven't changed, and it's both a lot and not enough at the same time. i'm rather fond of it.

regarding your mentioning of em values, i had no idea about that. i admit i have a ways to go in learning about em, bc i'm so used to using px. (like, what does em even stand for anyways??) but i would really like my layouts and sites and whatever to scale well across devices, so i have some work to do. thank you for educating me!

laying alone with only your thoughts can be a bittersweet moment. sometimes you start thinking too deeply about life and the things you've experienced, and you're either fondly looking back on some memories, or you're feeling anxious for what's to come. i definitely see how connections to a monochrome color palette can be drawn there.
nara!!!!! sorry for the late reply, i've been busy ㅠㅠ from what i hear, supposedly em from from the standard size of a capital m, which turns out to be 16px? but i dunno. sounds weird to me. i'm glad i could help u learn something tho!!!
thank uuuu!!! i forgot about the phase 1 unit limit, so i didn't get into one of my major classes........... but i got into all the others! i think i'll be okay. and i will~ u take care too and get lots of rest!
right? there can be such a strong dichotomy when thinking about time. it's really interesting~
