sorry i haven't updated in a while; i haven't been feeling my best.
today's sotd popped up in my study playlist today, and it brought me back to another old writing idea i had a long time ago. i hope you don't mind if i share it here.
the idea's pretty simple. i thought about how people refer to their favorite kpop artists as royalty all the time, and was like, "huh. now what if that was real."
i didn't have a name for the entire universe / world itself, but i imagined a vast continent separated based on which group of monarchs ruled it. they were united under the group's leader, and each member had their own kingdom.
i mainly took inspo from older groups and am not entirely sure if this continues to be a thing, but i remember sometimes the members themselves even had solo fandoms with specific names (i don't mean solo stans, just like. for biases yk). so, then, their kingdom would be based off of what the imagery of their fandom name provided. like, say your fandom name was pearls. perhaps your kingdom would be by the sea, have a prominent shipbuilding industry, be known for high-quality aquatic jewelry and perhaps even aquatic wildlife conservation. or good seafood.
it would affect appearances and history as well, of course. if we could go more abstract / varied name such as hydrangeas... what color of hydrangea, specifically? maybe blue. in general, blue represents calm or sorrow. so, if it were blue hydrangeas you specifically wanted to draw from, perhaps there'd be lots of calm sparkling rivers. or there would be a blue tint over the land, if it were in the north of the continent / kingdom and rather cold. blue could be your representative color, if you wanted to partner it with the general / group fandom color. and in terms of history, perhaps a great tragedy occurred some time ago, and blue hydrangeas became the motif of the kingdom to recognize and commemorate it.
and then, yk. there would be special festivals, traditions, etc. and of course you still have the general group's fandom name, so if you have both types of fandom, there would have to be some sort of balance... or maybe not! maybe there's magic. maybe not. maybe they have hydroelectric systems, maybe.............. *shrugs and makes vague gestures* the power of love powers their towns. it can happen!
the scope is vast. the options are limitless. what would you want your fandom name to be? and how would that show in your kingdom? i'm curious~
the story itself would take place long after all the kingdoms are gone, however. but nooooo oneeeee knowwwws whyyyyyyy~..............!!! the main character would be a historian / anthropologist of sorts, exploring each kingdom and documenting their findings. it would've been an epistolary-ish book, mainly told through diaries and notes, and sketches of artifacts n the like. maybe a few present-day newspaper articles, scraps of art left behind to form a greater context. i think it would be interesting to try and translate modern fandom dynamics and kpop history into what feels like a vaguely fantasy-ish pseudo-medieval world. but it's way beyond my current skill level, lolz. (honestly if i was into d&d i'd make it into a d&d campaign of traveling historians and other curious folks, but i know next to nothing about d&d.) maybe when i'm way older i'll return to it and something'll happen...
... i'm sorry so many of my posts nowadays are just me dumping my brain's ideas from over the years. i straight up forgot about this one, though, until i heard this song again. weird. but things happen.

hey eugene, i’m sorry to hear u haven’t been feeling ur best. i hope ur feeling better now! i’m here if u ever wanna talk about anything.
as always, this is such an interesting idea. and the imagery is so exquisite~ i can just imagine a beautiful seaside kingdom now. then the story being told from the perspective of an anthropologist is SO COOL! no need to apologize for sharing ur thoughts, it’s ur blog! and i enjoy reading about them <3
EEEK I LOVE CREATIVE QUESTIONS!! as for my own kindgom.. i would want my fandom name to be azalea. specifically, the pink flower. my kingdom would have a warm climate with occasional rain, so it’s like springtime all year round. the pink azalea grows in abundance, the air is clean, the grass is green, and the wildlife is protected. everyone is kind and loving, and tourists visit often. overall, i want it my kindgom to be pretty, clean, and full of love. what about your kindgom, eugene?
hey eugene, sorry u haven’t been feeling great. hope today’s kinder to u!! :D
THIS IDEA IS GENUINELY SO COOL THO!!!!!! turning fandom names into actual fantasy kingdoms is such a creative concept. the anthropologist documenting ruins of a fallen world is already a whole novel. no need to apologize for sharing, this is exactly the kind of brain dump i love!!!!! :]
ok for me… the fandom name would be forget-me-nots (methinks… feels sacred) the flower is everywhere, like it’s part of the kingdom’s identity, but we also randomly have tons of gerbera daisies planted.
the whole place is very modern solarpunk. clean glassy buildings with lots of ventilation, greenery wrapped around everything, trains running smoothly through the city… best way i can explain it is like changi airport but brighter, softer, more alive!!!! the climate is sunny but never too hot. just perfect all the time. we get autumn but no winter… we don’t believe in suffering here… (if the people want snow, they can go to the mountains for that).
and there are sooo many third spaces. parks with aquariums. weekly events, tea shops, open spaces, people actually hanging out. perfect for ppl who hate rotting indoors. the civilians are chill, no one’s in a rush, everything feels very zen. FEEL FREE TO VISIT!! (also wait… this lowkey feels like animal crossing where we just visit each other’s islands LOL that’s so cute…)
(quietly thinking… maybe the forget-me-nots thing means memories are important here… like nothing and no one is meant to be forgotten, even if the world moves on~ hmmmm...)
thank u nara!!! i'm doing somewhat better now. :)
WAAAAIIIIIIT I LUV THAT, azalea kingdom sounds so lovely WAAAAA i can see the fields upon fields of pink now............. it sounds so refreshing EEP!!!!!!!!
personally i'm not sure about my kingdom name... perhaps quills or something like that? inkdrops, if i wanted to be cute? i do know i'd definitely want it to be a haven / hub for the arts, with lots of bookstores and museums and the like. fellowships as well, guilds for the arts and regular crafts markets and gift events... and baked goods! lots of baked goods. probably somewhere with lots of forest, too...
aaaa thank u koi! today was kinder hehe :3
YAYAYAYYAYYYY glad u like :3 also WAAAAAAAA FORGET-ME-NOTS!!!!!!!! it's one of the most interesting flower names, eep. also a solarpunk social escapade sounds beautiful~ all the third spaces definitely makes it peaceful and uplifting. (i love the bit about forget-me-nots and memories... perhaps about how many memories could be made there, with the people. the small moments are important too, even if they blend together later in life. eep.)
