hi hi~ i went to the library today and checked out some interesting cds, so i'm just gonna briefly review them here :3
- narrow stairs (death cab for cutie) - i was expecting to put a lot of the songs on here to my vampirism playlist, but it's more... it doesn't have the cold feel that most of the vampirism songs have; really, it feels rather warm-blooded. a weird way to describe it, but the particular style of acoustic guitar involved is more fitting of a sunny day rather than a rainy of, if that makes sense.
- the best of depeche mode (depeche mode) - it's a long cd so i'm not totally finished with it yet, but i love most of the songs. the synth parts are my favorite, of course~ admittedly i was only familiar with their songs that i've heard on the radio, so when i heard some of their more "upbeat" songs, i was actually really (n pleasantly) surprised.
- blood bank (bon iver) - only four songs n sixteen minutes. admittedly i'm only a fan of the title track. the others are alright, but part of me feels that it doesn't fit the vibe that the title track set. perhaps that's just me being unfamiliar with bon iver in general though, since it seems to be a well-regarded album.
- disintegration (the cure) - love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! def the best one i've picked up. similar to depeche mode, i was only really familiar with the songs of theirs i've heard on the radio (which was pretty much just lovesong and friday, i'm in love). but it's completely dreamy rock paradise. it feels like tones of soft purple, and clouds, and fog. it feels like laying down in a meadow dotted with dew in the early morning, when it's still foggy and the passes in a haze. i need to get this one for myself.
i also got a dashboard confessional cd, and a liszt one, but i have yet to listen to either. i'll add my opinions when i get to them later~
oh, also! i had to take a korean placement exam today, to make sure i enrolled myself in the right class. we don't get the results back-- it's only for the instructors, to shuffle everyone around and make sure we're all in the right place-- but it was an interesting experience. i think i did okay.

a vampire-themed playlist sounds awesome!! themed playlists in general are so cool. i feel like it takes a good ear and an even better imagination to stay on theme. i hope u enjoy the rest of the depeche mode cd!!

thank uuuuuu!!! i agree, i love themed playlists. i love seeing how people connect the things they love with the sounds of the world. and i shall def update when i get through it all~

your reviews are so vivid!! i especially loved how you described disintegration; "tones of soft purple, and clouds, and fog" is such a cool way to put it!!
also, a korean placement exam?? that sounds both nerve-wracking and cool. i'm sure you did great~ fingers crossed they put you right where you need to be. are you thinking about sharing some of what you learn on here sometimes? (i'd be totally interested to see :])

yes!!! tbh it was less strenuous than i expected? like i knew it wouldn't be easy, but it passed by really quickly. i hope i enrolled myself right, lolz. if not... i guess we'll see what happens.
as for ur question, i think that would be awesome! tbh i was planning on using my school-provided webspace to do that, alongside general reviews of korean media. but maybe i could make another blog here for such a purpose~ eeep~ (n i would love to share! tho idk if i can... some professors r really strict on sharing things ykyk. i hope my professor isn't </3)
