there's this post i've been thinking about a lot. it's a little comic, and while i don't exactly remember the exact words, it held the sentiment of, "online, it's easy to diminish your achievements."
it was specifically in regards to views (and by extension, likes, reblogs, etc.). when people think of one being successful online, you usually get nigh-inconceivable numbers. a million, a billion, perhaps even a trillion as time will pass on and the internet grows older.
as a result, sometimes people feel bad about themselves, or make fun of others when they have less than that. sometimes even 100k isn't enough. sometimes even 1k.
but how amazing is it, that you could have 1k who love you and your work? how amazing could it be, if one's actually able to talk one by one with each of them and be part of their lives, and they're a part of the one's?
and it doesn't even have to be 1k-- 1k is so much. it could be 100. it could be 24. it could be 1. what matters is the love for you and what you do. it's a beautiful thing, that we can share it across the world with so many others. i just wish it didn't diminish the importance of the individual, of the beginnings or the "small".
anyway. i love you. i'm glad we can exist in this space together, and become friends, when otherwise we may have never even known of each other's existence at all.

that's such a good point; it's so easy to get lost in the scale and forget the real connections. this reminds me of something i saw from writer neil gaiman, where he talked about how people exist as stories, and even reaching one person is a kind of magic. focusing on the individual love behind any number is what makes it precious ;; thank u for sharing this eugene. i'm so very happy to be in this space/timeline as you too~!!! >:DD
yes!!! i agree. it's easier for me to try and reach out to everyone, or get to know them better when things are on a smaller scale :0 and AAAAAAA, my life would be boring without u too :3 i feel super duper lucky to know u too!!! hopefully we can stay friends for a long time~
individual love!!!!!!!!!! >:0 yessss. it's like finding a needle in a haystack. except there's a lot of needles, sometimes? and also much more hay. so maybe that's not an apt metaphor. but the one! it's most important.
(gaiman is a horrible human being though.)
omg, wait, what?? (gaiman is horrible??) oh dear.............. atp i should write a list of bad ppl, there's too many to keep track of!!!! :0
