i got a random idea while i was on the train today: what if someone put together a cyworld recreation?
like how we have spacehey now from myspace, and i think there's some sort of facebook recreation out there? the creator of it used to friend request everyone, remember? but then he got banned i think.anyway, i'm getting off topic. from cyworld, we could have... cy[something] too, brought into today? the idea isn't super well formed, but i've always been curious in how their customization works. there was also monetary bonuses involved (clothing for their figures n minihomepies, songs on their pages), but i'm not thinking of that...
i know cyworld has said it's making a comeback, like, a million times for a while now. but idk. maybe we could make it part of the indie web revolution instead.
real talk though, maybe i should just mess with the css on one of my sites and see how it turns out. a visual replica of sorts shouldn't be too hard, it's just everything else that goes with it, right? hm...
in other news. today's the first day of layout swap group applications! i wrote a bulletin post abt it, eep :3 well, i say applications, but you can just join the group lolz. apps will be open until the 28th, and then we'll have our layout making period. i have yet to make the forum post detailing the template for how we post layouts when the day comes, but trust that it is coming. i'll also keep the bulletins open for questions! and maybe i'll have a forum post for special requests if you really want your layout to have a particular edit (for instance i prefer to keep certain elements hidden)? idk. i don't want to be too limiting.
today was also my first day back on campus for classes. terrifying, but went well all things considered. i met someone in the korean class who was willing to let me study with them sometimes, i'm so grateful......... ㅠㅠ. data seems like it's going to be fun; the professor's really chill and they've already shared a lot of resources in their website. i love studying numbers, eep. maybe i should listen to that love. we'll see.

it would be great if cyworld was brought back, the concept of it was super cool. cinni.net has a cyworld template thing that looks really nice. it looks like it is up to the indie web to bring it back, lol.

i know right!!!!!! thinking about it, i haven't tried poring through its code on internet archive. i'll see if i can try to. also... is it alright if i ask where the template is :'3 i tried finding it but couldn't.

agh, i forgot to mention. i got this idea because i saw someone in the blog section of spacehey share a site where someone uploaded a repository for a singular spacehey / myspace page. sort of like, if you wanted to create a replica for yourself.

a cyworld recreation idea... that's such a cool and nostalgic brainwave!! i totally remember seeing some devlogs on tistory ages ago of people trying to replicate that exact cy profile page aesthetic. there were so many cool attempts. i even remember someone sharing their full code to show their process;; so much thought went into it, it was inspiring to see. the customization and mini homepies were such a specific, charming part of that era for sure. messing with css to make a visual replica sounds like the perfect kind of side project hehe.
and omg it's so cool to see people already applying to the group :D having a forum for special requests is a really thoughtful touch. that's gonna make everything so much more personal and fun for everyone. also huge congrats on the amazing first day back!! finding a study buddy in korean class AND a chill data professor?? that's such solid, good news ;; it really sounds like your semester is starting on the best kind of note~
