oooooough i'm in a situation. (vent post incominggggg)
okokok so get this. enrollment for each semester comes in phases, right? first phase, you're only allowed to enroll in up to 12 units (full-time students are 13 units in my particular college). second phase, you're allowed to enroll in up to 17.5 units. so, you often get situations in which you can't enroll in the classes you want, because they're all filled / don't fit with the classes you already have. hm hm~.........
in phase one, i was a dum-dum and enrolled myself in an advanced korean department class. for some reason, the listing for next semester didn't include the fact that the prerequisites were taking advanced korean beforehand, so i was like "oh, we'll get to see the intersections of language and pop culture evolution!!! cool!!!" *bonks head against table* no i will not, not cool!!! i will likely suffer, because the material will be in a level of korean i do not understand yet. (also the listing said that to take it, you had to get instructor permission??? but it didn't say that before. and how / why did i get into it in the first place, if that's the case??? i'm so confused. whatevs.)
but i can't change anything yet, i think. i have to wait until the 10th for phase 2.
so, i've been spending the past day or so looking for a class to fill in the amount of units that it had. especially trying to fill in my seven-course breadth requirements so i can go 100% into my major(s, maybe) requirements for the next few years without stress, but. most of the interesting classes are already filled up. either that, or i do have to go in on tuesday and thursday. ugh!!!!!! my brain's going to break next semester, i can sense it. it's already splitting at the seams now.
i can't be too upset about it, though. because, again, now i know. and could you imagine what would happen if i entered class on the first day and realized it then...? the horror and scramble would be unimaginable. and thankfully, the adjustment period (the first few weeks of classes) is filled with shuffling and movements of the waitlists... so i dunno. maybe i'll be lucky. and at least, with having to be there tuesday and thursday that opens up my possibilities a little more.
bright side!!! there's always a bright side, even if it's not as blazing and burning into your pupils as the sun. idk. i see the reality of the situation, i'm just trying not to spiral, lolz.
this is so random, but. you know how people argue for taking ap classes n their exams because then you get college credit? it's like... i dunno how it is for other colleges, but we only get units. we don't get any actual breadth credits covered, so we still have to take those classes again................... why did i do any of that, then. what was the point. or did i have it all wrong in the first place?
... in other news. on friday, a ramen place near campus is hosting a tasting dinner, for a pretty good price. i'm interested, maybe i'll check it out... and the music magazine i'm a part of has finally put in the order for this semester's print!!! i'm so excited to get my hands on one.
also. happy december!!! final month of the year... wild. what do you mean i'll be turning 20--

university is so STRESSFUL! i'd be freaking out too omg. but u got this eugene!! i'm sure things will work out for u. it's very admirable that u look on the bright side in the midst of the circumstances :D
yesss, i took ap language and composition when i was in 12th grade, and i passed the ap exam but still had to take freshman comp when i got to uni... i still don't know why i had to, but i had a great professor so i wasn't upset abt it lol. but that's very strange that u still have to take the classes in uni even after taking the ap ones prior... like what's the point....... i'm sorry about that :(
the stress is real, lolz!!! thank uuuu, i'm really trying ahaha.
i also took ap lang in hs, but only both lang and lit ensures you can completely forgo the english requirement in my school. ahhhhh!!! it is weird. like what do you mean we learned about it. and then we have to learn it again. i guess at the end of the day, it is all about the skills you get from the specific class, but still. it's weird.
