ode to monotony

i love robot and robotic characters. they're always my favorites, and the ones i relate to the most.

i shall explain why that is~  

one of my favorite things about robot / robotic characters, is how they define what it means to be human throughout the media they are in. not necessarily to become human, but the idea of humanity. being a person, having an identity (or soul if you're so inclined), existing within a framework of other people.

i've always sort of identified them as my favorites, or the ones i relate to the most, simply because. well. i go through a lot of similar explorations and confusions. there's a lot of things i don't understand about socialization, but i really want to. i like connecting with people, even though i get tired and anxious really easily while / about talking. i don't know why this is; most of the time i connect it to being fairly isolated in terms of interaction early on (i've never really talked to a lot of people outside my family), so i've never had that foundation? but idk. 

the earliest example of this i recall is liking plex when i watched yo gabba gabba as a kid on a few dvds. but not necessarily because of the deeper / symbolic reasons i shared above, i just really liked the robot look. and then... i think next would be zane from ninjago? who does sort of have that struggle. i thought he was the coolest (pun not intended), and i really loved his arc (at least in the first three seasons, which i watched over and over again religiously).

anyway. why is this coming about? well, relistening to daft punk over and over again, and paying more attention to their themes of humanity versus the mechanical, it's just made me think a lot. especially the call and response in alive, between robot and human, at battle with each other, or reaching out to each other in broken states, but ultimately coming together as one. especially in context of the internet, and how we have digital lives now. how we're so intertwined with technology. i don't mean this to necessarily say we should integrate more (in fact, i believe the opposite, really, we may be too digital even though i understand the reasons why), but i love looking at the divide between. and how our relationship with the digital has come to be the way it is, and how it may be.

and before i end this, i would like to point out. i am against generative ai. it goes against the meaning of robot here, against the integration. i can't explain it very well right now, but i'd like to make my stance clear.

aside from the robot tangent. i am so. so. so. TIREDDDDDDDDDDDDDUGH. but that's life sometimes. oh well. i have some (read: a lot... i procrastinated on one project and while it's due next month, it's still a crunch) work to do, and i have to check my classes to enroll in for next semester...
