lately i've been considering what language i should take while i'm here in college. (other than english. if u were thinking that.....................) currently, i'm trying to decide between mandarin and japanese.
i took mandarin in high school so i'm already sorta familiar, and i always did pretty well. i liked learning it and learning about the culture, too. but it's been a while, so i dunno how much i'll have to pick up from. (ah, i should've just taken a third year in high school so i could completely bypass this requirement, too...)i'm also considering japanese, though. considering how i could also fulfill the requirement for a foreign language minor through cultural classes (on history, traditions / customs, food, literature, etc.), it would be interesting. probably not easy, considering what i've gathered about learning japanese, but. the interest and genuine like is there. i also have a lot of media to supplement my studies (my interest in magazines, shows, music, etc...). maybe that could help. idk.
i did consider korean briefly, but i think i'd rather do that on my own? though i enjoyed learning that too a while back, and it wasn't really that hard. also have a lot of media to supplement with that.
and of course, there's tagalog too. being filipino has made me inclined towards it a little but, but i'm not super raring to go at it. the language is a little intimidating, if i'm being honest. i don't mean that to offend, it's just that i already stammer a lot, and such would probably make my time learning it even more difficult.
