needle teeth

so late!!! but i promise i have a good reason. i was baking my friend's birthday cake (and preparing her gift overall), and doing some homework. finally, i feel more productive. (i have to be, anyway. aside from being a good friend i don't wanna fail chem!)

i haven't been able to work on the site, i'm beginning to get frantic! but at the same time, every time i open it up my mind goes completely blank. kelp! but... not everybody updates their site every day, all the time, right? because life happens, lolz.

anyway. about today's sotd. it's considered folk / country, which surprised me a bit because i usually don't like country. but it should've been obvious from the style and the banjo, huh...

genre aside, i absolutely adore the singer's voice in it. truly adds a lot to the warning within the lyrics-- and by a lot, i mean the energy. while she seems totally into it, there's also desperation behind it because they aren't someone the listener should be with. and they're trying so hard to make the other see that, that they can't be "fixed." paired with the album art? it truly strikes something deep in the recesses of your mind, your memory of all the relationships you've seen, fictional or not.

it's a really prevalent idea, isn't it? that with love, an unhealthy relationship or person can be mended. but that just isn't the case (at least, from what i know). especially in romantic media, in which at least one person is usually a total red flag. a million red flags, tied into a human being, even. and yet, the other person is encouraged to stay, and the toxic person/relationship changes. and thus sometimes viewers begin to think it's truth or something to want.

those are the worst rose-tinted glasses.

so, i guess this song was refreshing to me.
