good evening~ eugene's a little late, but they had a strange day. rather not talk about it, so let's get into it.
what perfumes do you like? and yes, perfumes. i find the distinction strange and unnecessary.
personally, i've always liked gourmand scents. tooth-achingly sweet, warm and comforting like a cinnamon roll and fluffy blankets. they're often delicate and nostalgic, and somewhat whimsical? like, a lot of gourmand scents i see have notes of vanilla, caramel, spun sugar, cinnamon... or milk and marshmallow... they feel like a cozy escape. i already love sweets, and i like the idea of being comforting to others, so they're definitely my favorite scents.
a couple gourmand scents i'm really interested in right now are dulce from byrosiejane, and ectoplasm from fantôme.
strangely enough, i've also enjoyed strangely... clean scents? i can't really explain them, because their notes are hard to place for me, but they remind me of rooms with grey couches and white cashmere linens. like a home, far away from crowds. they almost surround you in emptiness, but it's not entirely disliked.
and finally, one outlier. wood sage and sea salt from jo malone. i don't know... something about this scent really draws me to it. it's a clean-ish scent, sort of gentle and isolated like mentioned above, but also hints at a beautiful, uninterrupted natural world around it. like a forest that overlooks a sea from a cliff, with cloudy skies and gentle winds.
growing up, i loved seeing the beach on a cloudy or rainy day. the waters and sands were pale, the plants growing along it swaying and their leaves now cool colors. without anyone visiting it, the beach seemed so peaceful and quiet. welcoming, almost. i guess that's what the perfume reminds me of.
anyway. i don't really wear perfume that much-- i'd really have to make an active effort to put it on every day. and even then, i usually feel uncomfortable wearing it. currently, the only one i like wearing is the wood sage and sea salt one i mentioned, which came in a tester as a gift, so. i must be careful with it.
sleep well.
