be casual

today was a somewhat chill, fun day. i went out with my sister and mom to costco for a costco run, and got some rotisserie chicken and granola bars :3 with the news, i also went back to remaking hyphenland. i got a few album page remakes out of the way, at least.

... alright; one day later? my organized thoughts on it all.

............................ okay, well, maybe not totally organized. when i think of it again, the first thing that comes into my mind is tears of joy.  it's just... everything, all at once. i'm so overwhelmingly happy that the wait is over. it's free. and kat-tun can get all the flowers and love they've deserved for over twenty. years.  if you include their original formation / junior group years, it's twenty five years. a quarter of a century. it's only right.

after the joy and celebration, though, what remains is confusion and... hurt. i just wish, so deeply, that it would've come sooner. why did it have to take so long? and was it only released for their debut, because they're no longer active together? if they didn't disband, would it have still been released? in that case, to consider it a last hurrah, it's rather bittersweet.

it really is everything. my mind keeps returning to that word, for some reason. everything, everything, everything. it's everything i and the rest of the fandom wanted, it's everything they've deserved, it's everything left, it's everything they were.

or should i say, everything they are? though kat-tun are no longer together, i think the memories and their musical legacy can continue to shine evermore, in the hearts of now, then, and the future. if someone like me can rely on them and their music seventeen years after their debut, someone else can thirty seven years from now. fifty seven. and on, and on, and on.

at the very least, i think i can say with confidence... that i'll love kat-tun forever.

sotd: care (original / kat-tun version) by akanishi jin <3333

p.s - perhaps it's me being a bad hyphen, but sometimes it was hard to maintain interest without being able to find content so easily. digging requires time and energy that this uni student just doesn't have right now to dedicate to it. but... listening to their music, and looking through all their images again, i remember just how much i really do appreciate them and their music in my life. i'm glad to see them getting more popular nowadays, even though it feels too late. no such thing though, i feel.

yes i am crying to the original version of care also. it's that sense of comfort i got from it, but in an almost completely new way that hits the deepest caverns of my heart AGAIN. WHY IS IT LIKE THAT WEIRD PLOTLINE IN CHEESY MOVIES WHERE SOMEONE GOES BACK TO THEIR HOMETOWN AND REMEMBERS ONE OF THEIR ESTRANGED FRIENDS IS SUPER ATTRACTIVE BUT NOW THEY'RE ATTRACTIVE IN A DIFFERENT WAY????? like. hearing all of this in high quality (and the og version-- akanishi released a sort of remaster on his own) is a completely different experience.

ok that's sort of a bad comparison but in any case-- AKANISHI WHYYYYYYYYYY ㅠㅠ

it's definitely bittersweet, but i'm so glad i can finally add their music to my playlists now!!!!!! yippeeeeeee!!!!! that alone feels like a small victory after all these years. (and i wonder if that would apply to youtube too? like for their pvs, since they're mostly on bilibili(?)... hopefully those get freed up someday as well.)

you're right though, kat-tun's legacy will keep going! the fact that you're here, still loving them after all this time, proves it. and now new fans can find them too, even if it feels late. there's no expiration date on good music >:333

awww, i'm so happy for you and the fandom!!! over twenty years is seriously a really long time with little recognition. in fact, i had no idea about the group until i met you. it's great that they can finally be recognized by new fans, and continue to be loved by forever fans. ♡ good music is timeless, and so i feel as though it is never too late to be discovered.
