hey hey, eugene here. i honestly had a really bad day, but i'd rather not dwell on it too much and let it corrupt my beautiful blog (lolz). it just hasn't been a good month so far, and that's okay. that happens... i hope you guys are all doing alright, though?
that aside, i wanna do some ~exploration~ of a ~strange topic~, hehe~
okay. first of all, listen to this sick song!!! i stumbled across it a few days ago, and while i don't usually click on vids without titles, i couldn't resist this one cuz of the ~nostalgic thumbnail~. fell in love with it pretty quickly.
with that out of the way, let's get into the post.
i think... the internet has definitely changed our understanding of privacy. i mean, i'm writing to you here, right? frankly, it's hard for me to write a lot of my blogs-- i wonder if i'm ever sharing too much, but then remember that a lot of people around the world share much more. and this is a fairly recent development in the world, all things considered.
but i digress. all of that being said, i like when i stumble across relatively... unknown/secretive artists nowadays. you know, songs that have no title on youtube so they're impossible to find, or artists that haven't released anything in years and you can find nothing about. the song i shared above is an example of such an artist-- well, you can find them on other platforms, but they're still pretty niche at the moment.
another one off the top of my head is huma, who made one of my favorite summer vampirism songs, I can't sleep in silence. they released a couple of albums after that, but information on them remains scarce on the interwebs. in a way, the same goes for daphne loves derby, too. it's not that easy to find information on them with a snap.
and to be honest, i think that's sometimes a good thing. you know what people say about anything on the interwebs lasting forever, because it really can. but to just drop some beautiful art without much of any connection to you... like, it almost leaves the art in its purest form, you know? this moment, this creation has made its mark. not you-- the eyes are not completely on you, leaving you outside of fame-- but the true landscape of your heart. something's poetic in that.
i understand wanting to know the artist, in order to understand deeper or make sure you're supporting a good human. but at the same time, we've put celebrities on harmful pedestals. they have power to sweep so many horrible actions under the rug, but others are constantly scrutinized at every turn.
celebrity is unsettling. why, under certain lights, do people demand to know every inch of one's being? why, under others, are people allowed to be so cruel to those whose lights are not as strong? it is disgusting, two-sided. the only good thing to come out of it is appreciation of one's work but even then-- they are just normal people. extraordinary brains and abilities, but people. there is respect and adoration. there there is obsession and ignorance. there is shallowness.
i would love to share my art, and i would love if people found solace in it or wanted to share it. praise is good. but i do not wish to share everything about myself alongside it. i don't want to be held and tracked.
is my blog art? i'm not sure. i never really considered it such. but even then, my statement stands. i won't post any pictures of myself, or my loved ones. i won't share my location. i'm just someone sharing their thoughts, and bits and pieces of their worldview. that's all that's really relevant, after all.
anyway. sorry for all the random interjections and digressions. but all this is why, when i sometimes come across relatively quiet artists and their work, it's an interesting sort of gem.
