fun foodie day today~
i woke up late, but that doesn't stop me!!!!! i made tomato sauce n pasta today, which turned out really well....................... are you guys fond of bay leaf? i feel like i am, though it's hard to exactly pinpoint its flavor amongst others. but when it's gone, you notice it. does that make sense? one of the baking books i checked out at some point said that bay leaf is "defined by its absence," which definitely fits the bill.
later on i made lace cookies with my mom. well, i made lace cookie dough. we have yet to bake all of it, hehe~
i saw exo's performance on mma (obligatory tomato throw at gen ai). i find it really interesting how they started with wolf, even though the members themselves didn't perform it. their new one sounds pretty good, tho i'm not the biggest fan of the chorus. the transition from the eve to love shot made my jaw drop too, i was not expecting it like thattttt lolz. also chanyeol winked. teehee :3
koi pointed this out to me, and i agree; it seems like everything's suddenly coming full circle in regards to their lore. it's a little concerning. if it's full circle, that means it's the end, no...? because after the main arc they have ends, then what happens with the lore...? do they just have no lore? or will we explore exo as ascended legends? i don't know. do i want to know?
i suppose we have no choice. i at least hope that before they really end everything, cbx can make some sort of appearance. at least a reference. for them to be not present for the end at all would be so horrible, but i'm not holding my breath.
anyway. the title of today's post. it comes from asuoe! because of how deeply i loved it, i always connect lace to lace doilies... and then i think of lace doilies, flying everywhere in an explosion (bcuz of that one auction scene). tbh, i wish we got more of the quagmire triplets. they seemed like such interesting characters, and i'm especially curious as to what happened on the hot air mobile home.
hm.
i'm going to do some painting now, and work on the custom bg for the vita. relaxing~ bye bye~

WHATT!! bay leaves are supposed to be removed?? :0 my parents add them in when making pot roast, but i had no idea they were supposed to be removed after cooking. i remember the first time i saw one, i was eating and pulled out a leaf and i was so confused why it was there LOL.
this blogpost is teaching me so many things.. i've never even heard of a lace cookie before. they look so crunchy. idk why but they kinda remind me of theses puffed rice cake snacks i used to eat a lot.
the end??? :( that's pretty sad to think about, especially bc it isn't certain if all the members are even gonna be together. i guess we'll see..

they're actually more chewy! the high butter n sugar content makes it very caramel-y~ i hope u're able to try a lace cookie someday soon!!! they're also v easy to make. :333

for me, i don’t really eat bay leaves much to remember the flavour. i mostly remember the texture from accidentally biting into one in soup… which is. not pleasant :0
also yeah… watching the mma felt weird. it genuinely felt like watching a subunit at times. but it was really nice hearing suho show off his vocals. sm is honestly lucky exo is stacked with talent even when 2/3 of the main vocal line is missing. i feel the same about the song too though. i can’t quite pinpoint why, but it felt kind of empty? i stumbled across a version with cbx added in (ew, gen ai. TOMATOES TOMATOES!!!) and weirdly enough, it sounded more exo-like… not better obviously, because ai, but still.
RIGHT??? and also, how is sm supposed to continue the lore when sooman, the guy who created this whole brainchild, is gone? the easiest option for them is probably to quietly drop exo’s lore-heavy concept and focus on newer groups. but i really hope that if they do wrap it up, they do it together. even if it’s not perfectly lore-accurate ;;

it did!!!! it's so weird having so few of exo on stage. it was really nice to hear suho show off his vocals more, i agree. and yeah, i think empty would be the right word. like i dunno, usually exo choruses are more involved. even if they're simple like ko ko bop for instance, there's some sort of adlib or complement alongside it.
i suppose. do you think the members themselves would want to continue the lore? and yeah... at this point, i don't even care what's lore accurate or what isn't, because of all the changes over the years. but if it ties up nicely with everyone there, i'll be happy.

hmmm... it is interesting to see how the members' attitudes have shifted regarding the lore. back in the day they definitely found the superpower concept a bit "cringey" (especially during the mama era), but they have actually leaned into it more as they have matured. suho in particular is like the keeper of the flame. he often talks about how the lore is a core part of their identity and even hinted in 2024(?) interviews that as long as they are "exo from exoplanet," that story will continue (if i'm remembering properly).
alsoooo the members have even woven it into their solo work. even with line up shifts or legal stuff, so i think they seem to view the lore as the one thing that remains constant for fans >:] so i do think they want to keep it going to give us that cohesive "big picture" we are all hoping for in the group... oops I'm blabbering, but the answer is yes!!! i do think so!!!!

ohhhh, is that so? that's interesting. i'm glad they don't feel entirely forced to tie into the lore nowadays. i love that notion of "exo from exoplanet", it's so sweet :'((((( my heart is really warmed by that, lolz.
